{"id":95,"date":"2012-12-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-12-08T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thewordthisweek.com\/index.php\/2012\/12\/08\/the-bread-of-life-is-enough-bread-for-me\/"},"modified":"2012-12-08T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2012-12-08T00:00:00","slug":"the-bread-of-life-is-enough-bread-for-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thewordthisweek.com\/index.php\/2012\/12\/08\/the-bread-of-life-is-enough-bread-for-me\/","title":{"rendered":"The Bread of Life is enough bread for me!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"wsite-image wsite-image-border-thin \" style=\"padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:10px;margin-left:0;margin-right:0;text-align:center\">\n <a><br \/>\n <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theword-this-week.weebly.com\/\/uploads\/4\/1\/5\/2\/4152650\/2431843_orig.jpg\" alt=\"Picture\" style=\"width:100%;max-width:311px\"><br \/>\n <\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"display:block;font-size:90%\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">Ok, time to fess up.\u00a0 Part two of our family journey to health is actually a completely selfishly section dedicated to me.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t drag to crew into this part, because at the time, I didn&#8217;t think they needed it.\u00a0 Quitting sugar in all it&#8217;s &#8216;evil&#8217; forms, apart from a few treats from grandparents and the morning tea table at church, made a great difference in our lives, and I thought we&#8217;d implemented all the changes we needed to for the family as a whole.\u00a0 Life could go on with &#8220;normal&#8221; food, so long as it wasn&#8217;t packed with fructose.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>(I forgot to mention last week, that while dropping sugar seemed to make a difference in the kids behaviour, that was probably something to do with the preservatives and un-pronounceable ingredients in a lot of those foods.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>So now for the selfish actions.\u00a0 I&#8217;m completely ok with this by the way.\u00a0 It&#8217;s perfectly alright to do something for yourself!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong style=\"\"> <\/strong><strong style=\"\"><strong style=\"\"><\/strong>Jesus  said to them, \u201cI am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will  never  be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. &#8221;\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><em style=\"\"><strong style=\"\"><strong style=\"\">John <\/strong><\/strong><strong style=\"\"> <strong style=\"\">6:35 <\/strong><\/strong><\/em><br \/><span><\/span>This is a truth for which I am forever thankful.\u00a0 Jesus is the bread of life everlasting.\u00a0 A life which I am confident I will have.\u00a0 However, the bread you find in the supermarket, well it turns out, it&#8217;s not for me!<\/p>\n<p><span>By cutting out fructose I lost 5kgs in about 5 weeks.\u00a0 <\/span>Then I didn&#8217;t loose any weight for about 4 weeks.\u00a0 Then I started putting weight back on.\u00a0 Not. Happy. Jan!\u00a0 Something else has to change.\u00a0 About the same time I heard about <a title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/christinecronau.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Christine Cronau<\/a>.\u00a0 Her family were featured on a TV show as being on a &#8220;Butter Diet&#8221;.\u00a0 Everything she said fitted well with what I&#8217;d learned from <a title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/sweetpoison.com.au\/\" rel=\"noopener\">David Gillespie<\/a>, but she gave me another thing to focus on.\u00a0 People who&#8217;ve been on many diets over the years may have done damage to their metabolism.\u00a0 This means that simply cutting fructose probably isn&#8217;t going to bring a great change in weight.\u00a0 She suggested looking into lowering carbohydrate intake.\u00a0 This was a bit of a bummer for me.\u00a0 Chips, pasta, rice, BREAD, all the cheap things we&#8217;d been using to fill us up, were on the list of things to reduce.\u00a0 But, I had to do something.\u00a0 In the 6 years since getting married, I&#8217;d managed to gain 20kg.\u00a0 TWENTY KILOS!!\u00a0 I can&#8217;t even really blame the kids for that.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t gain a lot during pregnancy, I seemed to accumulate weight in between pregnancies. <\/p>\n<p><span>As I didn&#8217;t see any reason to stop the rest of my family from enjoying pizza, pasta, toast, sandwiches, all the foods they enjoyed, I cut back carbs for myself.\u00a0 I lost another 5 kgs in about 5 weeks, putting me about 7kgs down from my start weight, because they just wouldn&#8217;t stay off!!<\/span>\u00a0 And what do you think happened?\u00a0 The kilos started creeping back on!\u00a0 Argh!!\u00a0 What gives?\u00a0 Never fear, there will be a third installment to this journey, and currently I&#8217;m 16kgs under my start weight, so I think it&#8217;s working!!<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span>Cutting back carbs, essentially all grains, starchy vegetables etc, I lost something else that I wasn&#8217;t expecting.\u00a0 I lost the brain fog I&#8217;d been living in for years!\u00a0 Mental clarity, complete thoughts, the desire to learn new things, all returned!\u00a0 This may have also been due to the increased vegetable variety and volume I was consuming.\u00a0 Depression has also been an issue for me for a number of years, but since taking this particular step, I haven&#8217;t had one bout.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not claiming that diet is the answer to all depression, but it&#8217;s worth looking into.\u00a0 We recently watched a DVD called <a title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foodmatters.tv\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Food Matters<\/a> which has a lot to say on the matter, and which helped clarify for me that this completely selfish thing I was doing, was the best thing I could possibly be doing for myself, and for my family.\u00a0 Please note, I don&#8217;t ascribe to all the views shared on the Food Matters DVD, but it has a lot of great info and I do recommend you check it out.<br \/><span><\/span><br \/><span>Do you have something you do just for yourself?\u00a0 Families are wonderful, but everyone needs to step out and take time for themselves from time to time.<\/span><br \/><span><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"wsite-image wsite-image-border-thin \" style=\"padding-top:10px;padding-bottom:10px;margin-left:0;margin-right:0;text-align:center\">\n <a><br \/>\n <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theword-this-week.weebly.com\/\/uploads\/4\/1\/5\/2\/4152650\/5030093_orig.png\" alt=\"Picture\" style=\"width:100%;max-width:420px\"><br \/>\n <\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"display:block;font-size:90%\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, time to fess up.\u00a0 Part two of our family journey to health is actually a completely selfishly section dedicated to me.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t drag to crew into this part, because at the time, I didn&#8217;t think they needed it.\u00a0 Quitting sugar in all it&#8217;s &#8216;evil&#8217;
